The Danville Warriors will square off against the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Danville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with eight straight defeats, while North Montgomery will come in with seven straight wins.
On Friday, Danville came up short against New Palestine and fell 6-2.
Mason Shipley spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
Meanwhile, North Montgomery never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Covington. The result was nothing new for the Chargin' Chargers, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Jack Warren was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Warren was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tucker Hinds was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Nolyn Brown was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
North Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only posted an OBP of .211.
North Montgomery pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Danville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Danville came out on top in a nail-biter against North Montgomery when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargin' Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
