Sugar Creek is 4-0 against Valor Preparatory Academy since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Sugar Creek Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Valor Preparatory Academy Owls at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. Sugar Creek will be strutting in after a victory while Valor Preparatory Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Sugar Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Queen's Grant with a sharp 47-22 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Sugar Creek has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sugar Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Infiniti Green, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Green has scored all season. Allure Bishop was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Valor Preparatory Academy, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by Covenant Classical at home and fell 47-8. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valor Preparatory Academy has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jalia Borden, who scored six points along with two steals.
Sugar Creek's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sugar Creek have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Valor Preparatory Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 20.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Sugar Creek against Valor Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 50-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sugar Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
