The North Marion Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the Doddridge County Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North Marion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
North Marion fell victim to Morgantown and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 7-0 to the Mohigans.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Doddridge County). They blew past Braxton County 20-0 on Thursday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Madelyn Barker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Doddridge County got a massive performance out of Olivia See, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs See has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Ross, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Doddridge County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
North Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Doddridge County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. North Marion hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Doddridge County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs.
