The Letcher County Central Cougars will take on the Pikeville Panthers at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (Letcher County Central 3.6, Pikeville 4.1) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
While Letcher County Central's  victory against Pike County Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars skirted past the Hawks  3-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.
 Jaydon Wright and  Quentin Williams were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Wright   didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Meanwhile,  Williams   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. What's more,  he posted three  strikeouts, the most he's  had since back in March. At bat,  Wright  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  RBI, while  Williams  got on base  in two of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Dawson Kincer, who  went 1-for-3 with three  stolen bases and two  runs. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in March.  Clay Hall was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Pikeville, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Leslie County  a   6-0 shutout  on Tuesday.
 Grant Tomlinson was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  double,  and one  RBI. That  double was  his first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Isaiah Stanley, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and one  run.
 Pikeville  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leslie County struck out ten times.
 Pikeville has  been performing  well recently as they've  won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Letcher County Central, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the  win, which was their third straight  on the road.
