Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Bishop Carroll Huskies proved on Wednesday. They blew past Bedford 66-44. Given Bishop Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Bedford is ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Carroll was led to victory by Jace Casses and Luke Repko. Casses went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 5 assists, while Repko dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Casses continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Tremel, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Bedford still got an impressive performance from Jacob Wilson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Ruffley, who scored nine points.
Bishop Carroll's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Bedford, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Bishop Carroll will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop McCort at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Carroll is facing Bishop McCort at the right time seeing as Bishop McCort is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Bedford, they will head out on the road to square off against Chestnut Ridge at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chestnut Ridge has five straight victories, Bedford has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
