Softball Recap: Tonopah Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Tonopah Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Chino Valley Cougars get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Hayden Simpson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ellie Procunier was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Tonopah Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Tonopah Valley's record is now 10-4. As for Chino Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Tonopah Valley will square off against Kingman at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something the Phoenix will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chino Valley, they will take on Parker at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Broncs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.53 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
