Taylor Utley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Utley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Utley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Plato got a massive performance out of Maci Shalbot, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs. Meanwhile, Hartville won against Licking on Friday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon, sneaking past 16-14.
Sarah Palmer was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Peyton Dudley, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
The win got Plato back to even at 2-2. As for Hartville, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
