The St. Thomas More Sabers lost against the Prairie Central Hawks back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Thomas More took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Prairie Central. It was the first time this season that St. Thomas More let down their fans at home.
Prairie Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Curl out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Goad, who scored 16 points.
St. Thomas More's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4. As for Prairie Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
St. Thomas More won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tri-City at 11:00 a.m. on January 6th. Tri-City is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Prairie Central will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Morton at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Morton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Prairie Central in Illinois (Morton is ranked 16th, while Prairie Central is ranked 86th).
