Baseball Recap: Madison Has No Trouble Against Sand Creek

Madison had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Sand Creek on Saturday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Aggies with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Madison let Brian Dopp and Cameron Barber run wild. Dopp got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Barber went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Dopp has become a key player for Madison: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Madison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Sand Creek, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-11.

Looking ahead, Madison will be playing at home against Dundee at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sand Creek has already played their next match (against Adrian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
