It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Oak Grove Grizzlies ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past High Point Central with a 65-60 win. The win was familiar territory for Oak Grove who now have three in a row.
Oak Grove was led to victory by Loucas Shoaf and JB Shabazz. Shoaf scored 21 points, while Shabazz scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shabazz has scored at least 25% of Oak Grove's points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Parker, who scored seven points.
Oak Grove now has a winning record of 5-4. As for High Point Central, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Seaforth at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seaforth knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Oak Grove likes a good challenge. High Point Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face High Point Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
