The Hill City Ringnecks will head out on the road to face off against the Clifton-Clyde Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Hill City is ranked 22nd, while Clifton-Clyde is ranked 15th).
Last Friday, Hill City never let their opponents score. They breezed by Decatur Community at home to the tune of 48-0. Hill City didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Aiden Amrein looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 75 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Amrein was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Dayton Stephen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Clifton-Clyde can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bennington 58-18 on the road. 58 seems to be a good number for Clifton-Clyde as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Hill City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Clifton-Clyde, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Hill City was dealt a bruising 50-22 defeat at the hands of Clifton-Clyde when the teams last played back in September of 2019. Can Hill City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
