The Edgewood Red Wolves won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by Rockledge 87-30. Edgewood has struggled against Rockledge recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Edgewood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brayden Wasdin, who scored five points along with four steals and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Wasdin posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Corbin Snyder, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Rockledge was led to victory by Brady Kearns and Ryan Blount. Kearns scored 18 points along with seven steals, while Blount scored 27 points. That's the first time this season that Kearns scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Christian, who scored nine points.
Edgewood's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Rockledge, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood will take on Calvary Chapel Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Calvary Chapel Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 back in December of 2023. Rockledge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Master's Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. Master's Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
