The Southern Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Southern scored the most points they've had all season to find success on January 11th. They took down Lewiston 62-47. Southern pushed the score to 47-27 by the end of the third, a deficit Lewiston cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 46-32 victory over Sacred Heart. Given Johnson-Brock's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Sacred Heart is ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Johnson-Brock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Koehler, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Camden Dalinghaus, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Southern and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Johnson-Brock, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0.
Southern ended up a good deal behind Johnson-Brock in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 50-35. Can Southern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
