Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe South Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Notre Dame Prep, Grosse Pointe South was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen a 7-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Jack Danielewicz, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Grosse Pointe North off the board. Danielewicz has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dane Lezotte was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last ten matches. Another player making a difference was Adam Czarnik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Grosse Pointe South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grosse Pointe North only posted a batting average of .125.

Grosse Pointe South's victory bumped their record up to 25-5. As for Grosse Pointe North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-21-1.

Grosse Pointe South will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Norsemen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
