The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rio Mesa, who took down 466th ranked Rio Mesa, 35-17. Nick Davis threw for 111 yards and one touchdown and ran for 205 yards in the win.
Pacifica moved up to 468 from 520 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pacific View. The Tritons climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Spartans 35-17.
Camarillo's dynamic duo of Travis Valdez and Corbin Covey proved tough for Channel Islands to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Valdez threw for 369 yards and two touchdowns and Covey had 149 yards receiving. Raymond Thomas helped Camarillo's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 90 yards.
The Scorpions' Valdez and Covey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Valdez has thrown for 1939 yards this season, while Covey, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 82 catches for 793 yards. Adam Espinosa from Oxnard leads the league in rushing with 866 yards.
Going into this week's game against Hueneme, Camarillo's Valdez needs 61 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Raiders take on Pacifica. Channel Islands is in fourth place, while Donnie Rea's team is in second place.
Dennis Riedmiller's team extended the longest winning streak in Pacific View this week by beating Gary Porter's team, 50-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Scorpions.
