The Oak Ridge Trojans will take on the Pleasant Grove Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Oak Ridge rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Vikings out 2-1. Given Oak Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Edison is ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oak Ridge was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
William Gezi and
Arda Askin, who scored both of Oak Ridge's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 14 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove kept a clean sheet against Enochs on Friday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pleasant Grove.
Oak Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 11-2-3. As for Pleasant Grove, their win bumped their record up to 13-4-3.
Everything went Oak Ridge's way against Pleasant Grove in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 as Oak Ridge made off with a 6-0 win. Does Oak Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pleasant Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
