Softball Recap: Leroy Greene Academy Has No Trouble Against Esparto

Leroy Greene Academy won the last time they faced Esparto and things went their way on Monday too. The Lions blew past the Spartans 27-16. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Leroy Greene Academy let Vida Gutierrez and Irene Aceves run wild. Gutierrez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases, while Aceves went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Aceves is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Hailey Washington was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Leroy Greene Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Leroy Greene Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Esparto, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coincidentally, Leroy Greene Academy and Esparto will both be playing Elite the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
