The Tabernacle Torches waltzed into Friday's match with four straight wins but they left with five. They managed a 57-52 victory over Central Christian. Given Tabernacle's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Central Christian is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Central Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jarrod Harmon scored 23 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Harmon. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Gregory, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Tabernacle's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Central Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Tabernacle and Life Christian Academy will face off at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Life Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Central Christian and Tuscaloosa Home Educators will face off without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
