Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Minooka's Winning Streak

If Minooka was feeling good fresh off their 65-32 takedown of Joliet Central on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Minooka Indians took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Naperville Central Redhawks. The Indians' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Minooka lost on Saturday, don't look at Mckenna Delaney. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 16 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Delaney a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Thomas, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Even though they lost, Minooka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Minooka's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Naperville Central, they pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minooka will square off against Plainfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Minooka is facing Plainfield Central at the right time seeing as Plainfield Central is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Naperville Central, they will challenge Waubonsie Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waubonsie Valley will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Naperville Central surely won't give up without a fight.
