Wayne County recap September 17, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Jack Burke and Quentin Raines connected against Timken. The connection went for 59 yards, the longest such play in Wayne County this season.
Norwayne was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. The Bobcats beat Ontario 42-34 earlier in the week.
Michael King and Bryce Bauman gave Smithville a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. King threw for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Bauman ran for 130 yards. Teammate Isaiah Ajian added to the ground attack by rushing for 47 yards.

Raines was the best receiver in Wayne County this week as Dalton lost to the Trojans. Raines tallied 5 receptions for 99 yards. Adam Metzger helped Dalton's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 70 yards.
King put up the best numbers in passing as Smithville lost to Fairless. King's favorite target this week was Tyler King, who caught 4 passes for 71 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Bulldogs' Burke and Metzger have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Burke has thrown for 561 yards this season, while Metzger has 11 catches for 222 yards. Bauman from Brent Besancon's team leads the league in rushing with 285 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Chippewa takes on Northwestern. As it stands, the Chipps are in fourth, while the Huskies are in third.
Hillsdale moved up to 219 from 316 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Loudonville 46-13.
