Elmore County (Eclectic, Ala.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring seven in the fourth quarter to seal a 42-20 victory over
Holtville (Deatsville, Ala.).
After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter, the Panthers led 28-20 at the half.
Elmore County expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. EC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Alzavian Patterson.
A 28-point first quarter helped the Eclectic school secure the big victory. The Panthers scored on a touchdown run by
Quade Buckhannon, a defensive touchdown, a
Lazavius Head touchdown run and a touchdown run by Patterson in the quarter.
Jarmal Kendrick played well for the Bulldogs. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Elmore County's standout player in the win was Patterson. The senior ran for two touchdowns.
EC also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 40-23.
The defeat comes as a step back for Holtville, which notched a 28-24 victory over Dallas County in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Panthers, which lost to Childersburg last week, 18-14.
In a 4A Region 3 game next week Elmore County (4-4) takes on Dallas County, and Holtville (1-7) will go up against Childersburg also in a 4A Region 3 game.
