Softball Recap: Singer Beats Hathaway for Their Third Straight Victory

Singer waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Hathaway. Singer has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Hathaway, too.

Jada Eaves was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Breeanna Mitchell was a standout: she scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Landri Sandifer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

Singer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Singer's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-11. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hathaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1.

Looking ahead, Singer will square off against Westlake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hathaway, they will challenge South Cameron at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tarpons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.69 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
