Baseball Recap: Greenville Wins Going Away Against Wilmington

Greenville won against Reynolds last Monday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Wilmington Greyhounds with a sharp 17-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Justin Schell was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Csonka, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Greenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmington only posted an OBP of .400.

The victory made it two in a row for Greenville and bumps their season record up to 11-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9-1 Reynolds and 8-9 Wilmington. As for Wilmington, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Greenville will challenge rival Sharpsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wilmington is set to face off against their familiar foe Reynolds at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
