After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Pickens Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hubbertville Lions. The Pirates' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Tyde Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aaron Kirk was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

Pickens Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Hubbertville, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Pickens Academy will host South Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hubbertville, they will venture away from home to take on Marion County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
