They walked away with a 72-65 victory over the Trojan Tigers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Downey Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maylon Marte led the charge by scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds. Marte hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Mickael Heritiana, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Despite the loss, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: Dwayne Foreman III scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven steals. That was a full 35.4% of Hope Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Griggs, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Downey Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Hope Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-9.

As for Hope Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wildwood is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
