Football Recap: San Diego Piles Up the Points Against Progreso

San Diego got themselves on the board against Progreso on Friday, but Progreso never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Ants 61-0. With that victory, the Vaqueros brought their scoring average up to 26.5 points per game.

Francisco Villagran had an outrageously good game as he threw for 166 yards and five TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Rogelio Fernandez was in the mix too, providing San Diego with two touchdowns.

San Diego's run defense was locked in: Progreso could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Ronnie White for the heroic effort on defense: he. San Diego didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.8.

San Diego didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brandon Ruvalcaba, Mj Gutierrez, and Jake Salinas picked up one apiece.

The win made it two in a row for San Diego and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Progreso, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
