Arcadia has gone a perfect 4-0 against Whitehall recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Raiders will host the Norse at 12:00 p.m. Arcadia will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Arcadia is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They won by a run and slipped past Blair-Taylor 15-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since April 29th.
Arcadia let Austin Fernholz and Deklyn Grzadzielewski run wild. Fernholz went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Grzadzielewski got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Fernholz has posted since back in April. Login Scow was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Arcadia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Whitehall had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 12-3 win.
Luke Matejka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits.
On the hitting side, Alex Sartor and Mason Pientok did most of the damage at the plate: Sartor went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Pientok got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mason Bautch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Whitehall pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Arcadia, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Arcadia was able to grind out a solid victory over Whitehall when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Norse have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
