The Meridian Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Centennial Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Meridian's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Orofino 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Athena Little was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Little was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexia Flygare, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Reagan Morris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meridian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Centennial came out on top against Orofino on Saturday by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Patriots have beaten the Maniacs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Maniacs has come to flipping the script.
Cali Moorhouse was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jailey Polski ?25, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Centennial now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Meridian, their record now sits at 10-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Meridian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Meridian took their victory against Centennial in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
