Lutheran has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Palmer Ridge Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Lutheran got the win against the Red-Tailed Hawks by a conclusive 41-20. Given Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Berkley Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Schneider is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Vigil, who scored eight points along with eight steals.
Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Discovery Canyon 62-45. That's two games straight that Palmer Ridge has won by exactly 17 points.
Among those leading the charge was Delanie Mcmullen, who scored 15 points. Taylor Peterson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Lutheran's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Palmer Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Bears when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lutheran since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
