The Cherokee Indians and the Shoals Christian Flame squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Cherokee Indians had to settle for second. They were dealt a 69-22 defeat at the hands of the Flame. Cherokee's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it 16 in a row.
Sarah Davis (2025) continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Shoals Christian, shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis (2025) has scored at least a third of Shoals Christian's points. Abby Owens was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six steals.
Shoals Christian's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Kathryn Husiany got a bit more time on the court (17 vs. her season average of 7.8). Husiany made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Cherokee dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Shoals Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Cherokee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shoals Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Waterloo at 5:30 p.m. Waterloo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
