Basketball Recap: Chillicothe Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Sol'jier Allen and Jaishon White

Chillicothe managed to keep up with Eugene until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Chillicothe Hornets came up short against the Eugene Eagles, falling 66-45. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Eagles are ranked 15th).

Chillicothe's loss came despite strong showings from Jaishon White and Sol'Jier Allen. White almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Allen posted 12 points and seven boards. The game was White's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyen Gannan, who put up six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Chillicothe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Chillicothe's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Eugene, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Chillicothe will head out to take on Penney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chillicothe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for Eugene, they will head out on the road to challenge Tipton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Eugene's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
