With a playoff game on the line, the Somerset Academy Panthers rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 91-62 win over the Sharks. Given Somerset Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Mourning is ranked 688th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Somerset Academy was led to victory by Johnathan Point du jour and Xavier Anderson. Point du jour almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, while Anderson scored 23 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Anthony Henderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists.
Somerset Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Mourning, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Somerset Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-56 defeat vs. Archbishop McCarthy on the 8th. Mourning does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
