The Bovina Mustangs's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They strolled past Hart with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. The win was just what Bovina needed coming off of a 54-34 defeat in their prior matchup.
Bovina had a senior duo take command as Gabriel Nieto scored 14 points and Miguel Lopez scored 11 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Bovina's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Nieto, who scored 5 points.
Bovina's victory bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Hart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Bovina is on the road again on Saturday and play against Springlake-Earth at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Springlake-Earth presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bovina in Texas (Springlake-Earth is ranked 365th, while Bovina is ranked 1277th). As for Hart, they will head out on the road to face off against Lazbuddie at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
