On Tuesday, St. Monica earned an 11-8 win over Bishop Conaty-Loretto. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mariners.
Milena Valdez looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Savanna Hernandez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Bella Hernandez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.
St. Monica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ramona Convent, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary by a score of 12-9 on Tuesday.
Delicia Murillo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Six bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariana Figueroa, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Ramona Convent pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for St. Monica, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Monica has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Ramona Convent struggles in that department as they've averaged .570. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
