Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Crestwood Knights 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gators have posted since December 3, 2024.

Lakewood's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camorri Glenn, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Zakiya Hodge, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Loss or not, Crestwood got some senior leadership from London Vaughn and Saniya Williams. Vaughn went 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five steals, while Williams went 8 for 19 en route to 20 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vaughn has scored all season.

Lakewood's record is now 9-12. As for Crestwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

When Lakewood and Crestwood next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lakewood will square off against Lower Richland and their 11-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Crestwood will try to stop South Florence's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
