The Alchesay Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Page on the road and fell 74-43. While losing is never fun, Alchesay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Page is ranked tenth).
Despite the loss, Alchesay still got an impressive performance from Jazlyn Nosie, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Imonie Beach, who scored six points.
Page's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sofia Cambridge, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Cambridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was LeLaura Yazzie, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five steals.
Alchesay has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Page, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-4.
Alchesay will head out on the road to challenge Thatcher at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Alchesay is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. Page does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
