2A Salt Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Kaleb (Bubba) Burras Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Starting off the list is Heritage Academy's Kaleb (Bubba) Burras, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. (Bubba) Burras rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 57 yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (103.4). He has become a key player for Heritage Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Unfortunately for San Tan Charter, this isn't the first big game they've seen from (Bubba) Burras. (Bubba) Burras rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes the last time he and the Roadrunners duked it out back in October of 2023.

Paul Soltero Goes Supernova in Heritage Academy Defeat

Paul Soltero put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 122 yards on only 12 carries, and also caught a touchdown.

On the season, Soltero has caught 8 touchdowns while averaging 52.2 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had four receiving touchdowns.

San Tan Charter Wins Eighth-Straight Thanks to Benny Sharpe

San Tan Charter picked up their eighth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Benny Sharpe. Nobody could stop Sharpe as he rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards.

San Tan Charter pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Sharpe and San Tan Charter will challenge NFL Yet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Uriah Neloms and Co. Win Eighth in a Row

Uriah Neloms's big game helped extend San Tan Charter's winning streak to eight on Friday. Heritage Academy had no answer to Neloms as he rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 110 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Neloms really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run.

For the season, Neloms has thrown 18 touchdowns while averaging 153.1 passing yards per game.

Aaron Crawford Delivers Electric Effort Vs Arete Prep

Rounding off our Top Five is Aaron Crawford of Chandler Prep. Crawford picked up 220 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 86 yards.

Crawford and Chandler Prep will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 1st. The game will pit Crawford up against the Heroes' star wideout Paul Soltero. The only thing left to do is find out who's the greater deep ball threat. You'll have to watch the game to know for sure.
