The Brookwood Panthers's five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over Calera. The victory was just what Brookwood needed coming off of a 68-36 loss in their prior match.
Brookwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayton Dixon, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Crummie, who scored 13 points.
Brookwood's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-15. As for Calera, they bumped their record down to 2-17 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Brookwood will take on Sipsey Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calera, they will head out on the road to face off against Helena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Helena presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Calera in Alabama (Helena is ranked 26th, while Calera is ranked 331st).
