The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 52-39 victory over Pinecrest.
Landon Cummings continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Billings, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Fairmont pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Pinecrest, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont and Pine Forest will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pine Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Fairmont is ranked 105th). Pinecrest and Southern Lee will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Southern Lee is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
