The Scappoose Indians will take on the Astoria Fishermen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scappoose 2.7, Astoria 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Scappoose is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Scio, who was ranked eighth at the time (Scappoose was ranked 13th). The Indians fell just short of the Loggers by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Indians have suffered since April 2, 2024.

Meanwhile, Astoria waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Seagulls 12-1. That's two games straight that the Fishermen have won by exactly 11 runs.
Astoria let Hailey Svensen and Aryana Adams run wild. Svensen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Adams went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Adams has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayomi Holmstedt, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Astoria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Scappoose's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Astoria, their win bumped their record up to 15-4-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scappoose hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Astoria struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
