The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars were the 48-47 winner over the Tampa Catholic Crusaders when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Academy of the Holy Names fell 50-42 to Tampa Catholic on Thursday.
When it comes to explaining why Academy of the Holy Names lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Gavin. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Castro, who scored no points along with three steals.
Academy of the Holy Names has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. As for Tampa Catholic, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Academy of the Holy Names will take on Wesley Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tampa Catholic and Booker will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
