On Friday, the Roosevelt Roughriders faced the Anacostia Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt was the victim of a rough 52-27 defeat at the hands of Anacostia. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roosevelt in their matchups with Anacostia: they've now lost nine in a row.
Anacostia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shayonna Nave out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nave has scored at least 25% of Anacostia's points. Ta'shaun Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Anacostia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Roosevelt's road trip will continue as they head out to face McKinley Tech at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. McKinley Tech's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Roosevelt's offense will have their work cut out for Roosevelt. Anacostia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Friendship Collegiate Academy at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th.
