The Faith Christian Lions suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were beaten by Western Sierra Collegiate Academy 75-25. While losing is never fun, Faith Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1377th, while Western Sierra Collegiate Academy is ranked 475th).
Faith Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Bryan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Oakley, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Faith Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Buckingham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cristo Rey at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Cristo Rey comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
