Glenelg Country is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Severn School Admirals at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glenelg Country had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Chen on Tuesday. Glenelg Country never let Chen get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.
Michael Gensemer made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gensemer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Keegan Wojdon was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Brayden Henson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Glenelg Country hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chen struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Severn School hadn't done well against St. Mary's recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Severn School came out on top against St. Mary's by a score of 4-0.
Like Glenelg Country, Severn School also got a great game from a two-way player: Caden Blanck. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Blanck was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Fisher, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Glenelg Country's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0. As for Severn School, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Glenelg Country might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Severn School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Glenelg Country avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
