While McDonald's victory against Poland Seminary wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since May 6, 2024.
Not much got past Aubrey Evans, who gave up just two hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Poland Seminary off the board.
At the plate, McDonald's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Miley Titus, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over McKinley on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
Gracie Maldonado and Gina Romeo did most of the damage at the plate: Maldonado went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Romeo went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Romeo has posted over her last 12 contests. Hannah Stouffer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Springfield now has a winning record of 8-7. As for McDonald, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
McDonald took their win against Springfield in their previous matchup on April 7th by a conclusive 15-2 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
