Basketball Recap: T.R. Miller Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eli Hubbert and Cj Stanton

If T.R. Miller was riding high fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Excel on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The T.R. Miller Tigers lost 68-46 to the Saraland Spartans on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Spartans are ranked 45th).

Despite the defeat, T.R. Miller had strong showings from Cj Stanton, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points and seven rebounds, and Eli Hubbert, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Stanton a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Gibson, who earned five points.

Even though they lost, T.R. Miller smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

T.R. Miller's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Saraland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the T.R. Miller Tigers challenge the Excel Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saraland, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Murphy at 7:00 p.m.
