The Zionsville Eagles and the Hamilton Southeastern Royals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Zionsville Eagles had to settle for second. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. Zionsville has not had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Zionsville still got an impressive performance from Allie Caldwell, who scored 25 points along with two steals and two blocks. That was a full 52.1% of Zionsville's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Haan, who scored 14 points.
Hamilton Southeastern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maya Makalusky out in front who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Stidham, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Zionsville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.
Zionsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hamilton Southeastern won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Millers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Noblesville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 501 points over their last eight games.
