Basketball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Lighthouse Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 54-33 to the Mooresville Christian Eagles. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Lighthouse Christian Academy lost, don't look at Ellie Mae Winders. Despite the final result, she posted 20 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Winders is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Tara Taylor was another key player, putting up five points.

Iris Hill was nothing short of spectacular for Mooresville Christian: she went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points and seven steals. Hill is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Korah Pitcock, who posted three points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lighthouse Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mooresville Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Lighthouse Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-14 loss against Shoals on the 9th. As for Mooresville Christian, they will welcome Indiana Math & Science Academy North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
