McCool Junction stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 72-37 victory over Nebraska Lutheran. Given McCool Junction's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Knights are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McCool Junction's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Briann Stutzman, who scored 16 points, and McKenna Yates, who scored 17 points. Shelby Bandt was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley beat the Bulldogs 40-34 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley.
McCool Junction pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.8 points. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
McCool Junction didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McCool Junction since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
