The Golden Valley Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Linden Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Golden Valley made easy work of El Capitan and carried off a 31-7 win. Golden Valley pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit El Capitan had little chance of recovering from.
Among those leading the charge was Tyrrell Johnson, who rushed for 110 yards on only 12 carries.
Meanwhile, Linden took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-7 victory over Weston Ranch. Given Linden's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Weston Ranch is ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Linden to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Schallberger, who threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns. Landen Ly was another key contributor, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Golden Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points per game. As for Linden, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
